The Guelph Pipe Band was founded in 1922, and in 2007 celebrated 85 years of continuous activity. The band is currently under the leadership of Pipe Major Bruce Anderson, with a roster of over 30 playing pipers and drummers. There are also a number of piping and drumming students under the tutelage of Bruce MacDonald (piping), and Larry Willis (drumming). Guelph's Grade IV band was the winner of the coveted PPBSO Champion Supreme award in 2003. Please see the Events page for the most up to date listing of our activities in 2011. The members of the Guelph Pipe Band wish to extend their sincere appreciation to the executive and members of The Colonel John McCrae branch of the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 234) for their support throughout the years. New piping and drumming students are welcome. Lessons are held each Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm at the Guelph Legion on York Road, with Bruce MacDonald instructing. Piping instructions are ten - 1/2 hour lessons for a cost of $25.00. Piping students must purchase their own practice chanter. Drumming students must purchase their own drum sticks.
